Newsletter 24 August
I love Christmas carols – the commercial ones before Christmas and the religious ones during the season of Christmas. And it is never too soon to start getting into the mood. After all, we are told to shop early for Christmas (not that I ever do), so why not listen to a few bars of Jingle Bells as well? But this year, it is different. The last time that I remember going to a big shopping centre with a crowd of people, it was Christmas 2019, so it just doesn’t seem right to be thinking about the next one already!
And, yes, Christmas of 2020 is going to be a lot different. We have no idea how much at this stage but we will be still be under the effects of Covid-19, whether in recovery or resurgence! On a religious level, we have been away from the parish for so long that it may seem strange to be back – if we are by then! So please stay in touch.
It takes 9 months for a baby to grow in the womb of its mother. Knowing that it is happening lends to the excitement and anticipation of the arrival. From Tuesday there are just 4 months until Christmas. Maybe now is the time to start considering options, especially on the religious level of how to make it a positively unique and deeply spiritual celebration this year. If you have any ideas, please share them with us.
Other news:
Biddy Adami is still in hospital but Norman is cautiously optimistic about her progress. Please keep the prayers coming.
Fr James will be on a private retreat this week so please keep him in your prayers also.
Following on the family picture of the Mutch family last week, we would like to keep you up to date with developments in other families in the parish so please send us a recent photo and we will share it in this newsletter.
Short and sweet this week!
God bless and stay safe. Dc Mike & the team.
